Three-footed flat/bulbous shaped terracotta vessel with a cylindrical neck, wide flaring mouth, spotted leopard feet, two seated warriors in elaborate feathered costumes to the neck, side warrior portraits towards the bottom. Brilliant brown, red, ivory and black. Dark patina.
Ancient Egyptian Ushabtis
Blue glazed faience Ushabti with ten rows of hieroglyphics to the front panel. In the shape of a mummy with hoe and pick, a tripartite wig that falls on top of the rectangular back pillar, braided chin beard. Often called "Servants of the Afterlife", Ushabtis were placed in the tomb of the Mummy and were intended to be servants that would magically come to life and do any chore the Mummy might be called upon to perform in the afterlife. 26th Dynasty.
