Ancient Egyptian limestone canopic jar with base and stopper, incised onto the front, three rows of hieroglyphs including birds, a duck and a beetle. On the stopper, the falcon-headed God Horus, the protector of the stomach. canopic jar were used by the Ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the organs of their owner for the afterlife. Very large and beautiful. 18th Dynasty.
