Terracotta Diana of Ephesus, Goddess of the Amazons, a worship that focused on the Goddess as Queen of Heaven. In Roman times she was called Diana; yet at Ephesus, she was worshipped under the names Mother of Animals or Many-Breasted Artemis. Her temple built by the Amazons was one of the wonders of the World. Freestanding, hollow, missing hands, with faces on two sides. In excellent condition.
Prehistoric Axes
Homo Erectus brown stone hand axe. Fits easily into the palm with indented area for the thumb. These tools were likely used to cut plants or meat but may have also served as weapons when hunting animals for food. Most tools were clearly intended to be used by the bare hands although some were fitted to wooden handles. Great Rift Valley, Africa.
Ancient Egyptian artifacts ushabtis
Terracotta Ushabti with red, beige, brown, yellow, and black paint to the surface, with three lines of hieroglyphics. Often called "Servants of the Afterlife”, Ushabtis were placed in the tomb of the Mummy and were intended to be servants that would magically come to life and do any chore the Mummy might be called upon to perform in the afterlife. Covered in an earthen encrustation. 18th Dynasty
