Greek vessel
Bell-shaped terracotta vessel with two handles and a footed base. Black figures with red highlights: on one side, a reclined bearded figure holds a drinking cup. On the other, two philosophers, one with a walking stick. Earthen patina.
Ancient Egyptian artifacts in a wall frame
Soapstone Horus amulet in a black frame. Horus, the falcon-god, was usually depicted as a hawk or as a man with the head of a hawk. Hours was not only a God of the sky, but also the embodiment of divine kingship and protector of the reigning pharaoh. As a son of Isis and Osiris, Horus was also worshipped under the name of Harsiese, the God who performed the rite of “opening of the mouth”, on his father, thus legitimizing his succession to the throne as earthly ruler.
Prehistoric Tool
Homo Habilis stone hand axe. Fits easily into the palm with indented area for the thumb. These tools were likely used to cut plants or meat but may have also served as weapons when hunting animals for food. Most tools were clearly intended to be used by the bare hands although some were fitted to wooden handles. Great Rift Valley, Africa
