Prehistoric fossil
Fossil fish in stone. Fish swam in a fresh water lake. When they died, they sank to the bottom where they were quickly buried. The soft sediments encased the fish and, as the rock hardened, the skeleton was preserved. Eocene Period, Wyoming.
