Turquoise glaze heart scarab inlay, the Egyptian symbol of resurrection. The Egyptian word for beetle was 'Kheper' which meant to exist. Scarabs were worn to assure continued existence, both in this world and the next. Six holes along the edge indicate the possible attachment to a garment. 18th Dynasty.
