Clay bottle-shaped vessel on a footed base, single side handle, black figures with red highlights: a male figure riding a horse on one side, a deer on the other. Covered with an earthen patina.
Carved light green limestone heart scarab, once placed on the throat, chest, or heart of the mummy. A vertical line of hieroglyphs on the top with the Sun God Ra holding an Ankh, the Egyptian symbol of life. Six lines of hieroglyphs and a winged scarab on the bottom. Some were worn by the deceased on a necklace, or mounted in gold settings as a pectoral. Heart scarabs provided the bearer with the assurance that at the final judgment as depicted in the Book of the Dead, the bearer would be found "True of Voice" and accepted into the eternal afterlife by the God Osiris.
