Antique Ancient and antique Asian antiquities and antiques bronze Tibetan statue
Antique Asian bronze Tibetan statue. Vajradhara is the primordial Buddha, the embodiment of all the Buddhas of the three time periods, and the essence of the three kayas or bodies of the Buddha. He is the Primordial Buddha in the Nyingma, or Ancient School and the Sakya school. He also represents the Dharmakaya Buddha and therefore, the ultimate aspect of Enlightenment. He is the founder of Vajrayana Buddhism, or Tantra. It is said that in degenerate times he would appear in an ordinary form as a Spiritual Guide. He is depicted as dark blue in color, expresses the quintessence of buddhahood itself. He is central to the Kagyu lineage because Tilopa received the vajrayana teachings directly from Vajradhara, the dharmakaya buddha. He is the ultimate Primordial Buddha, or Adi Buddha, according to the cosmology of Tibetan Buddhism. Vajradhara displaced Samantabhadra Buddha in Gelug andKagyu mythologies, but is metaphysically equivalent. Vajradhara and Samantabhadra are cognate deities with different names, attributes, appearances and iconography. Antique Asian bronze statue. Bronze Tibetan Vajradhara seated in dhyanasana on a lotus throne, his hands crossed in vajrahumkarmudra, the dhoti with an incised hem long sash, jewelry, leaf crown, the face with serene expression, bow shaped mouth, heavy-lidded downcast eyes and arched eyebrows in relief. Covered in dark green patina.
