Terracotta pottery fragment from the time of Saint John the Baptist, in a silver frame. John the Baptist was the great prophet who came before Christ and predicted His coming. He began to preach along the River Jordan around AD 26. He urged people to repent of their sins and predicted the coming of the Messiah and Judge, “One greater than myself.”
