Treasures of the World Artifact Spotlight:
Ancient Greece Vessel
Ancient Greece vessel, hydria shaped terracotta vessel with three handles, black figures on a light color background: erotic scenes of a kneeling male with a profound phallus in the company of a nude female resting her feet on top his shoulders, to the other side a nude bearded standing male copulating with a deer, his profound phallus visible. Light dirt patina.
Egyptian scarab
Large carved brown limestone heart scarab, once placed on the throat, chest, or heart of the Mummy. Five lines of hieroglyphics at the bottom including Egyptian symbols with triple lines on top. Some were worn by the deceased on a necklace, or mounted in gold settings as a pectoral. Heart scarabs provided the bearer with the assurance that at the final judgment as depicted in the Book of the Dead, the bearer would be found "True of Voice" and accepted into the eternal afterlife by the God Osiris. Unusually large and beautiful. Third Intermediate Period.
Greek pottery with Rabbit Figure
Hydria shaped terracotta vessel with two handles, black and red figures on an orange background: a horse with the torso of a human carrying a rabbit on one side, warrior with spear and horse on the other. All figures highlighted in red and beige. Covered in a light dirt patina.
