Ancient Egyptian Sarcophagus Fragment
Upper part of a wooden sarcophagus, covered with a layer of gesso, the painted face chalky, painted black eyes. The embalmed bodies of the dead were wrapped for protection before they were deposited into coffins (sarcophagi) which were usually made from wood. The mask and the sarcophagus were covered with plaster and religious motifs to help the deceased in his or her voyage. Ptolemaic
Bronze vessel with a spherical shape, pedestal base, wide flaring lip and Bronze circular medallions attached to the side, a number of which are now missing. Persian calligraphy is inscribed on the base. At first, Persian script was unwieldy and difficult to read and write. By the 10th Century, punctuation had been developed and the letters streamlined. As artists began to write in a flowing and rhythmic manner, different styles of calligraphy evolved. Covered in a deep green patina.
Ancient Egyptian Amulets
