Asian statues 1300 AD

Carved dark green Jade statue of a Foo Dog resting on top of a ball, a string in his mouth, the surface with incised geometrics and Chinese writings. Foo Dogs are really lions, the proud Mother of the feline race. Although lions were not indigenous to China, lion artwork and sculptures were imported gifts to the emperor. Later introduced in Chinese primitive art, the lion became associated with Buddhism as the defender of law and protector of sacred buildings. Covered in an earthen patina.
Asian antiquities are authentic and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
