Ancient Byzantine coins
Silver Constantine X coin. On the reverse, Constantine X in regal apparel, the obverse with Christ enthroned. Fifty-three and in poor health at his accession, Constantine seems to have been chosen for his ability to get along with everyone rather than any noticeable talents. The chief reigns of power were held by the new emperor's wife, Eudocia, who held a very public power role and was referred as 'The Great Empress of the Romans'.
