Carved brown limestone, two raised beetles on a bar facing opposite directions. Egyptians wore scarabs as part of their jewelry and buried their mummies with large scarabs placed on the chest to protect the heart. Hole for wearing. 26th Dynasty.
Egyptian Ushabtis
Carved solid white marble Ushabti, arms crossed, with chin beard and large headdress, the face of an animal on the top. Six lines of hieroglyphics on the front. Often called "Servants of the Afterlife”, Ushabtis were placed in the tomb of the Mummy and were intended to be servants that would magically come to life and do any chore the Mummy might be called upon to perform in the afterlife. 26th Dynasty.
