Antique Asian iron Foo Dog statue
Hollow Iron Foo Dog crouched with its left paw on top of a ball against its body. Foo Dogs are really lions, the proud Mother of the feline race. Although lions were not indigenous to China, lion artwork and sculptures were imported gifts to the emperor. Later introduced in Chinese primitive art, the lion became associated with Buddhism as the defender of law and protector of sacred buildings. Traces of gold gilding.

Sandstone carving of an Egyptian ruler in profile in a royal headdress, the Uraeus cobra symbol, associated with the King and Kingdom of Lower Egypt, the hands held in prayer, with Aten, a sun disk with rays which end in hands. Hieroglyphic symbols to the side. Aten was a form of the sun God Ra. During the reign of Akhenaten, the Aten was made the 'King' of the Gods. Light earthen patina. New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty.
