Black stone Kuan-Yin (Quan-Yin), Chinese goddess of mercy and compassion, seated in dhyanasana on a throne delicately incised with stylized flame-like motifs to the border, pleated sanghati, oval face, peaceful expression, small bow-shaped mouth, heavy lidded almond-shaped eyes, finely arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes, the hair in rows of small curls surmounted by a usnisa and encircled by an aureole, traces of red, green and black. Covered with a light earthen patina.
