The name of the Japanese maker is engraved onto the surface of the blade with the image of the sun, the scabbard has a wooden core that is covered in a gold metal sheeting with the traditional diamond and chrysanthemum patterns etched onto the surface along with a row of Japanese characters on one side, a dragon on the other. The hilt has metal sheeting with more Japanese characters.
