Pre-Columbian Olmec statue 1150 – 550 BC

In recent years, archaeologists have uncovered many remains of this ancient culture but much still remains to be learned. Sometimes burying their objects, the Olmec carved in jade and hard stone. The figure of a half-human, half-jaguar creature was thought to be a god and occurred often in their art. An Olmec slab dating 31 BC is considered by some historians to be America’s oldest known dated work, proving that the Olmec had some knowledge of hieroglyphic writing. Carved green stone figure with slit eyes, rectangular ears, the exposed phallus upturned.
Pre-Columbian antiquities are authentic and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
