Ancient Egyptian Cartonnage Fragments
Cartonnage fragment from a Mummy, the bottom section of the feet have a geometric pattern with traces of red, green, blue, yellow, and black paint and gesso over linen with a line of hieroglyphics runs down the center including a snake, eyes, and a bird. The embalmed bodies of the dead were wrapped for protection before they were deposited into coffins, or sarcophagi, which were usually made from wood. Comes in a lucite frame. Egypto-Roman.
