Marble baboon, sacred to the God Thoth, squatting on a square base with straight front, the forepaws to the knees, the head and upper part of the body with a hood like mass of fur incised with grooved lines, the face with a rectangular snout, grooved mouth and drilled nostrils, the tail curved around the side to the right leg, the phallus visible. In excellent condition with a light earthen patina. 26th Dynasty
